What Resolution Do You Need to Print an A4 Photo at 200 dpi and 300 dpi?
If you want to print a photo on A4 paper (210 × 297 mm) and keep good print quality, you need to know the correct pixel resolution. Since print resolution is measured in dpi (dots per inch), we first need to convert millimeters to inches.
A4 Size in Inches
-
Width: 210 mm ÷ 25.4 ≈ 8.27 inches
-
Height: 297 mm ÷ 25.4 ≈ 11.69 inches
1. Required Resolution for A4 at 200 dpi
To calculate the pixel dimensions, multiply each side by 200 dpi:
-
Width: 8.27 × 200 ≈ 1654 pixels
-
Height: 11.69 × 200 ≈ 2338 pixels
➡️ Required resolution: ~1654 × 2338 px
2. Required Resolution for A4 at 300 dpi
For higher-quality printing, multiply by 300 dpi:
-
Width: 8.27 × 300 ≈ 2480 pixels
-
Height: 11.69 × 300 ≈ 3507 pixels
➡️ Required resolution: ~2480 × 3507 px
